What does writing LGBTQ literature mean to me?

Two words come to mind - knowledge and acceptance

I grew up in a small rural community in Oregon where racism and homophobia was the norm.  Good thing I've never been "normal." Even as a child I could not understand why people should be treated differently due to their skin color, beliefs, and their sexuality.

I was a teenager when I  saw a lesbian couple holding hands at a art fair in Eugene - I remember thinking what a beautiful thing that they can be free and open.

I write to entertain and to show that love can come in all shades. It's important  for me to show gay couples in loving relationships to take away the stigma and broaden minds. I've know from my friends and a few reviewers that I've already reached some people who have never read m/m  before, and that warms my heart.

I also write for those who are questioning their sexuality. To show that love can come in many forms despite what they may have been raised to believe and most importantly, they are not alone. I'm a life time contributor to The Trevor Project, an organization which supports LGBTQ youth with suicidal thoughts.
